Researchers from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and Lehigh University have developed a groundbreaking nanostructured copper alloy using powder metallurgy and high-energy cryogenic milling that could redefine high-temperature materials for aerospace, defense and industrial applications.

The Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT) has published a Ferrous Powder Metallurgy Sintering Troubleshooting Guide.  The guide is designed to assist PM parts manufacturers in troubleshooting common sintering issues specific to ferrous PM components.

First AM Valve Manifold on US Navy Aircraft Carrier


The additively manufactured manifold on US aircraft carrier Enterprise CVN 80.

HII, America’s largest shipbuilder and a global defense provider, has announced that its Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division in Virginia, has successfully installed the first additively manufactured valve manifold assembly on a new construction aircraft carrier. NNS collaborated with DM3D Technology, Auburn Hills, Michigan, to manufacture the manifold body.
