APMI International Names 2020 Fellow
APMI International's most prestigious award recognizes APMI members for their significant contributions to the goals, purpose, and mission of the organization as well as for a high level of expertise in the technology, practice, or business of the industry. The 2020 Fellow Award recipient will receive elevation to Fellow status at WorldPM2020: World Congress on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, Montréal, Canada, during the Opening General Session on Sunday, June 28. The 2020 recipient is Thomas (Tom) Pelletiers II, VP new business development, Kymera International.
Dedicating over 30 years to the powder metallurgy (PM) industry, Pelletiers is the current APMI International president and has served on many APMI and Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) committees and association boards. In 2015, he received the MPIF Distinguished Service to PM Award. He was a co-chair for PowderMet2011 and several annual MIM conferences. Pelletiers has been a member of the MPIF Technical Board and chairing the Professional Development Committee since 2000.
Additionally, Pelletiers has co-authored various articles for the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy and ASTM Handbook Volume 7: Powder Metallurgy. He is a consistent speaker at several MPIF seminars and the annual Basic PM Short Course. He co-developed lead-free machinable brass compositions resulting in two U.S. patents and has performed extensive research on aluminum premixes.
Established in 1998, the Fellow Award recognizes APMI members for their significant contributions to the society and high level of expertise in the technology of powder metallurgy, practice, or business of the PM industry. Fellows are elected through their professional, technical and scientific achievements, continuing professional growth and development, mentoring/outreach, and contributions to APMI International committees.
