Metal Powder Used for Hydrogen Storage

The first self-sustaining residential home to use Hy2Green, a carbon dioxide–free energy supply system developed by GKN Powder Metallurgy, is officially in use. The energy storage system utilizes metal powder to hold hydrogen as an energy source. The residence, located in South Tyrolian Alps, is not connected to a public power grid.

PM and Metal AM of Titanium Conference Program Available

The program for the conference PMTi2019, Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of Titanium, is now available. PMTi2019 will host global experts on powder metallurgy (PM) and metal additive manufacturing (AM) September 24–27, 2019, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the University of Utah. This is the first time that the conference will be held in the United States.

Metal Injection Molding Conference Call for Presentations Announced

An official call for presentations has been announced for MIM2020, International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides, to be held at Hotel Irvine, March 2–4, 2020, in Irvine, California. Potential authors have until October 4, 2019, to submit presentation abstracts on manufacturing innovations and material advancements. All abstracts accepted for presentation will require a PowerPoint submission prior to the conference.

2019 PM Design Excellence Award Winners Announced

Since 1965, MPIF has sponsored an awards competition among MPIF member company parts fabricators. The winners of the 2019 Powder Metallurgy (PM) Design Excellence Awards Competition were announced during POWDERMET2019, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, at the Monday, June 24, Awards Luncheon. Nine Grand Prizes and seven Awards of Distinction were given in this year’s competition.

PM Industry Conferences Provide Inspiration

Phoenix, Arizona, hosted the powder metallurgy (PM) industry June 23–26 for POWDERMET2019, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials, and AMPM2019, Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy. These co-located conferences brought together over 850 delegates from 22 countries for four days of the latest research and development in PM, particulate materials and metal additive manufacturing (AM), as well as annual industry awards presentations and networking.
