MIM2018 Program Highlights
Representing an industry with sales assessed at nearly $2 billion globally, the upcoming MIM2018: International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides’ program continues to grow. This year’s conference will be held in Irvine, California, March 5–7, 2018, and will also host the annual Powder Injection Molding (PIM) Tutorial on Monday, March 5.
What can you expect during MIM2018?
- Keynote Speaker Benedikt Blitz, SMR Premium, will present MIM2018 attendees with highlights on the recent developments in the world of forged special steels and remelted steels including nickel alloys, stainless steel, alloy tool steel, and alloy steel; as well as provide an overview about end-user demand and structures of these special steels. Blitz’s presentation will summarize the actual status of installations (forging presses and remelting units) on a global scale. The speech will also focus on the production of metal powders and powder metallurgical steels and especially its associated production technologies like HIP, MIM and AM, and more.
- Last year introduced a new student grant program to encourage undergraduate engineers to attend the conference. This year the program continues with seven grant-winning students who will be in attendance to present their recent studies and network with industry professionals. The grants are provided by the Metal Injection Molding Association (MIMA).
- Professor Emeritus Randall M. German, FAPMI, San Diego State University, returns to lead the Powder Injection Molding Tutorial. This annual event provides a basis for determining options, uses, properties, applications, and opportunities for cost-effective PIM manufacturing. Registration for this event is separate from the conference.
This year's MIM conference promises to bring together innovative industry leaders with up-and-coming product designers, engineers, consumers, and more!
