POWDERMET2018 and AMPM2018 Technical Programs Organized

The Technical Program Committees for POWDERMET2018, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials, and AMPM2018, Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy, met recently to assemble the program for the June 17–20 co-located conferences in San Antonio. Nearly 90 industry experts met to review abstracts for technical papers and presentations. The results of the committees’ diligent work:

•   POWDERMET2018 will hold 42 technical sessions and Special Interest Programs featuring 124 presentations

•   AMPM2018 will offer 27 technical sessions with 92 presentations

•   Over 50 technical posters are expected to be presented

There was also quite a buzz regarding the $700 reduction in registration fees for POWDERMET2018; announcement of the continued National Science Foundation (NSF) support of 40 conference grants; and the enhanced exhibition with an additional 90-minutes of exhibit time at the end of the first day’s exhibits, featuring the PM Evening Alehouse sponsored by the Powder Metallurgy Equipment Association (PMEA).

Prior to the Technical Program Committees’ meeting, many of the committee members attended a presentation by Professor Todd Palmer, Pennsylvania State University, identifying the challenges and opportunities for powder feedstocks in the additive manufacturing of metals.

The full conference program for POWDERMET2018 and AMPM2018 will be available in early February.
