PacifiCan Funds to Support the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation

Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan), Burnaby, British Columbia,  announced over $1.9 million funding for the British Columbia Institute for Technology’s (BCIT) Centre for Applied Research and Innovation. The funds will establish AAMTECH, a 3D printing advanced additive manufacturing prototyping hub. The hub will reduce the cost to acquire and operate equipment that has been a barrier for businesses that are developing and commercializing new concepts.

This project will provide local small- and medium-sized enterprises with access to state-of-the-art technology and expertise that will allow them to print prototypes with a wide variety of materials including advanced composites and metals using advanced 3D printing technology. This hub is expected to support an estimated 60 businesses, helping to bring 90 products or services to market and provide training opportunities.
