PM Compaction/Tooling Seminar Concludes
It was another successful year for the PM Parts Compacting/Tooling Seminar. The seminar, held about every other year, dates to 1989 and continues to educate a variety of people throughout the industry, mainly catering to powder metallurgy parts and product fabricators.
This year’s well attended seminar attracted attendees with backgrounds and experience levels ranging from entry-level engineer to experienced tool and die maker, with over half of attendees reporting involvement in engineering. Other areas such as quality assurance, production, sales, and management were all represented by the attendees.
Some of the presentation topics this year included mechanical presses for high-volume compaction and design, die-wall lubrication, press safety and warm compaction. This year's panel of experts provided a wealth of knowledge for the students, with a combined industry experience totaling over 300 years. Their expertise is a valuable tool for the attendees to obtain a broad range of information and an understanding of compacting and tooling. The course is specifically designed for those who want to expand their knowledge of compacting and tooling technology, enhance their opportunities to advance, and for those who are looking to deepen their understanding in this specialized area of powder metallurgy. Many attendees took advantage of the ability to network directly with the speakers during breaks, meals and before and after the seminar.
