Technical Program Underway for Largest Global PM Event

Program Committee MeetingThe Technical Program Committees for the largest global powder metallurgy event of the year, WorldPM2020, AMPM2020 and Tungsten2020, met recently to assemble the program for the June 27–July 1 co-located conferences in Montréal. Nearly 115 industry experts met to review abstracts.

The results of the committees’ diligent work:

  • WorldPM2020 will hold 62 technical sessions and Special Interest Programs featuring 184 presentations
  • AMPM2020 will offer 55 technical sessions with 161 presentations
  • Tungsten2020 will have 25 technical sessions with 75 presentations
  • 32 Posters plus an anticipated 54 more from student grant recipients

The full program will be announced in February. Visit WorldPM2020.org for details.

There was quite a buzz regarding the 2020 full conference registration rates that are $250 less than 2014, the last year the PM World Congress was held in North America. This, coupled with the announcement of conference grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT), and Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) covering full conference registration and hotel accommodations for 54 students, will ensure that Montreal is the place to be this summer!

Prior to the Technical Program Committees meeting, many of the committee members attended the APMI Regional Technical Program featuring Tom Murphy, FAPMI, Hoeganaes Corporation, who reviewed metallography and microscopy techniques. Also, Jennifer Sietins, U.S. Army Research Laboratory, gave an outstanding presentation on “X-Ray Computed Tomography: Exploring Earthly Materials and Beyond.”
