Celebrating 5 Years of the AMPM Conference
Five year’s ago, the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) launched a North American industry first—a conference completely dedicated to metal additive manufacturing (AM). This year’s AMPM2019: Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy conference, June 23–26, 2019, at the Sheraton Grand in Phoenix, promises to be the best yet, and the enormous growth of the industry reflects in the ever-expanding program and networking events.
The first AMPM conference was held during the PM2014 World Congress. As a co-located conference, it hosted only 11 technical sessions and limited conference attendees to a specific AMPM conference area. Since then, the conference has expanded from a two-day event to a three-day event, and the technical sessions have more than doubled in size from 11 technical sessions to 27.
This year’s AMPM2019 conference features events catered to the growing metal AM industry.
A new optional Metal AM Tutorial will be conducted by Todd A. Palmer, The Pennsylvania State University, and Joseph T. Strauss, FAPMI, HJE Company, Inc. Strauss was a co-chairman of the first AMPM conference. The Tutorial will provide a basis for determining process options, uses, properties, applications, and opportunities for cost-effective metal AM. Learn more.
All AMPM2019 full-conference registrants will have open access to all POWDERMET2019 technical sessions and events to maximize learning and networking within the powder metallurgy industry.
The exhibit hall will be open for over 12 hours and will feature over 100 exhibitors. With 7 hours of non-compete time and a 90-minute PM Evening Alehouse event to provide additional networking time within the exhibit hall, conference attendees are provided with ample time to explore.
Networking events include an Opening Night Reception (highlighting the 75th anniversary of MPIF), the Industry Awards Luncheon, the PM Design Excellence Awards Luncheon, and more.
