Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award Announced
The MPIF Awards Committee announced a 2018 Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy (PM) Award during POWDERMET2018, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials, in San Antonio, Texas, June 17–20. The award recognizes individuals who have actively served the North American PM industry for at least 25 years and, in the minds of their peers, deserve special recognition.
Tessa Stillman, senior manager, standards & technical services, started her career with MPIF in 1973 as a part-time typist. Over the years, she has held various management and administrative positions and has worked closely with numerous boards and committees for MPIF, the trade associations beneath the MPIF umbrella, and APMI. She has guided the annual MPIF/APMI Technical Program Committees and the related speakers/session chairmen activities since 1980; has been involved in all MPIF standards development work since the early '80s; and works closely with the MPIF Technical Board. She received SAE International’s Forest R. McFarland Award (2001) for her PM Materials Committee activities and in 2017 received ASTM International’s B09 Committee on Metal Powders and Metal Powder Products Distinguished Service Award. After 45 years of service, Stillman will retire at the end of this year.
An awards ceremony took place during the Industry Luncheon on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, during the POWDERMET2018 conference in San Antonio.
