Careers in the Powder Metallurgy Industry

Are you a problem solver? The powder metallurgy industry is always looking for talented, dynamic individuals ready to grow with technology.

The powder metallurgy industry is comprised of a diverse group of companies engaged in everything from raw materials production to tooling and equipment manufacturers that support companies that produce PM components to those parts-making companies themselves, and yes, even metal additive manufacturing—also known as 3D printing. Companies range in size from smaller local or regional firms, all the way to large multi-national organizations. The applications they're involved in run the gamut from traditional automotive parts to nanotechnology concepts just emerging from the laboratory.

If you're a student attending a college or university in the United States, monitor our annual PowderMet conference for a grant opportunity from the National Science Foundation. Since 2017, the National Science Foundation has been awarding up to 40 students a grant to attend the PowderMet and AMPM that includes a full-registration package and room and board.

The powder metallurgy industry is a vital, growing part of the modern global economy, delivering products that are essential to agriculture, consumer goods, manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, defense, and aerospace. So if you're considering a career in advanced manufacturing, consider a career in powder metallurgy.
